[Hot Video Alert] Rihanna - Diamonds

Back around Thanksgiving I prepared my blog for a bunch of Hot Video Alert posts that would go up BOOM BOOM BOOM but, the craziness of the holiday PLUS the fact that I was about to start a new job in the city, I never got around to it.  So...let's try this again.  First up, Rihanna's STUNNING video for her single "Diamonds," taken from Unapologetic, the Barbadian beauty's seventh studio album.


Written by Sia (of course - you can just tell by the chorus), and co-written/produced by Benny Blanco, and Stargate, "Diamonds" is probably one of the better tracks on Unapologetic, an overall inconsistent and hastily put together album.  I'm all for an album where the artist mixes genres and styles but there has to be a flow and this album just doesn't flow.  Anyway, that's neither here nor there.  "Diamonds" is flawless and fast becoming one of my jams.

The song, which went on to become RiRi's twelfth number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (tying her with Madonna and The Supremes) is complemented by an equally stunning music video directed by Anthony Mandler ("Russian Roulette," "Man Down").  Featuring Rihanna looking absolutely gorgeous throughout, the video is filled with tons of beautiful imagery; horses running, beautiful nature scenes, intercut with shots of a police chase of some kind."Finding beauty in chaos and finding beauty in pain and finding pain in beauty" are some of themes tackled in this visually flaw-free clip, according to Mandler.

Remixes for "Diamonds" were recently released digitally and feature stunning dance-ified reinterpretations by Gregor Salto, Bimbo Jones, Congorock, Jacob Plant and Dave Aude.  A remix featuring rapper Kanye West was also released.  "Diamonds" was released in the U.S. September 27th and in the UK on September 30th.
