Priscilla Ahn Starts Tour with Devotchka This Week, Album Cover Design Contest To End Soon

Singer/songwriter Priscilla Ahn and her label, Blue Note Records have joined forces with Creative Allies to launch an album cover design contest for Ahn's forthcoming sophomore album When You Grow Up. The winner of the contest will receive $1,000, a credit in the album packaging, a Priscilla Ahn prize pack and will help out the creative director in planning the rest of the album's layout. Pretty cool! The deadline for submissions is midnight March 1st. You can visit the Creative Allies website for guidelines and to watch a special video message from Ahn.

Due out May 3rd, When You Grow Up was produced by Ethan Johns (Ray LaMontagne, Laura Marling, Ryan Adams) and features songwriting collaborations with Sia, Inara George (The Bird & The Bee), Eleni Mandell and Charlie Wadhams.
"Growth emerges as the central theme of When You Grow Up. The songs thread a loose storyline through life’s ups and downs with Ahn’s angelic voice narrating experiences beginning with childhood, progressing through cycles of romance and heartbreak, and concluding with the wise, reflective "Torch Song.” The album also exhibits Ahn’s continued growth as an artist and a songwriter since her 2008 debut A Good Day."
As Priscilla Ahn prepares for the release of her album in the Spring, the promo kicks off a bit early as Ahn has the privilege of supporting Devotchka on some tour dates, starting this Tuesday, March 1st in Salt Lake City. Check out tour dates below and while you're at it, check out a new video of Ahn's breezy take on John Lennon's "Love," a b-side from the new album.  "Love" was produced by Mike Andrews and the video was directed by Daniel Milder.

Hot Video Alert: Ke$ha - Blow

Unicorns, rainbows and James Van Der Beek wearing a bra. Who knew Ke dollar sign ha had such a sense of humor? In the video for new single, "Blow," Ke$ha and James Van Der Beek (playing himself) go head to head in an all out rainbow glitter war of epic proportions. Directed by Chris Marrs Piliero, the very tongue and cheek video places the famous "Tik Tok"-singing heroine in the middle of one of the most bizarre black tie cocktail parties ever, where the only other guests (besides Van Der Beek) are a room full of unicorns. Ke$ha looks glamorous as ever in a slinky black dress and matching black pumps, complete with little guns on the toes (How very Ms. Frizzle 2011 of her!) while Van Der Beek looks dashingly handsome in his classic black tuxedo. The two stars do a sexy little dance around one another before meeting in the middle for a bit of dialogue. You gotta hand it to James Van Der Douche for making himself available for this video. The actor's very presence is only aided by his deprecating sense of humor.

"Blow" is the second single to be lifted off of Ke$ha's Cannibal EP, following "We R Who We R," which went straight to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart when it was released last fall. Produced by a team of talented super-producers including Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Benny Blanco and Kool Kojak, the single follows the same electro club sound as all of Ke$ha's previous releases. While Ke$ha's vocals have been Auto-tuned to hell the stomping electro beats pulsing throughout the song are as infectious as ever. After it's release in early February, the single peaked at #32 on the Billboard Hot 100 and at #19 on the Billboard Pop Songs charts. Check out the amazing video in all it's glory below and download "Blow" on iTunes HERE.
